The Land-for-Peace Formula has become Land-for-Nothing

Today, Palestinian "President" Abbas gave his final answer to the idea of recognizing Israel as a Jewish state:  No.  Right before his UN speech, he told supporters, "they talk to us about the Jewish state, but I respond to them with a final answer: We shall not recognize a Jewish state." Netanyahu has been constantly vilified for not making "enough concessions for peace" but can anyone name any concessions that Palestinians have made towards peace?  Any at all?  They have turned down offers at least 3 times which would have given them virtually all of the West Bank and the last offer even gave them control of the Temple Mount, the holiest spot in Judaism.  And now Abbas is saying that he will never, ever recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  So what exactly is the point of Israel negotiating?  Can anyone tell me that?  What will they get out of this process other than enemy missiles with a clear view of downtown Tel Aviv?
