As I wrote yesterday, it is shocking to me that 79 Senators voted yesterday to send this man F-16 fighters and M1A1 tanks. The argument amongst the pro-Israel set in those 79 is that we can use our aid and our weapons systems to influence and control the behavior of Morsi and Egypt. That if we prohibit the sale of these weapons, we lose that lever. I think they are deluded if they think they can control someone as viciously anti-semitic as Morsi is with some weapons systems and spare parts of weapons systems he already has. He is going to bide his time, stock up and without much warning attack Israel when the time is right. At that point any cutoff of aid from the US won't matter.
